Stephanie was the very first friend I made on JMU’s campus freshman year.

We sat next to each other in class.

She complimented my high top sneakers.

We talked about our shared love for salsa dancing

She invited me to lunch, and the rest is history!

She brought a very shy me out of my shell, and help me feel so safe and welcome in a new &  intimidating environment. I don’t know who I would be now without having Stephanie as a friend!

After living the DC area for a bit, she made the big move to Canada and has grown and found happiness there! She completed her yoga teacher training in January, and let me tell you, her yoga classes are the best! I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes!

It was an honor to photograph her through FaceTime and take these photos! I’m so excited to share them and her thoughts with you 🙂

What made you want to schedule a virtual photo shoot?

To connect with a dear friend who has such a way of capturing people’s joy and inner light. Her photography style if fun and empowering, and to do it virtually was so convenient! I highly recommend trying a virtual shoot with Laura!

What was the virtual photo shoot experience like for you?

It was SO much fun, and I was really impressed how inventive Laura got during our shoot. She knew exactly how to instruct the phone placement to capture the right photo.

What has self-isolation/quarantine been like?

It’s been interesting. There have been pros and cons for sure. For me personally, isolation has giving me a space to plan and adapt my yoga teachings for an online community.

What has been your favorite self-isolation/quarantine activity?

Taking care of my plants and baking. 🙂

What song/artist/playlist have you been turning to for comfort?

Milky Chance (artist)

What are you missing the most these days?

Going out to dance with friends.

What are you most looking forward to once things get back to normal?

Social dancing and traveling!

What lesson have you learned that you will carry through to the future?

To take time and sit with and learn from my emotions.

Is there a local/small business that you want to give love to?

MĀ Yoga in Victoria, BC

Stephanie, you’re the best!
